This is my first post of many to come!
I've been on the search for natural ways to assist and balance my hormones. In the past I struggled with acne, weight gain and weight loss, PMS, mood swings, ovarian cyst, all symptoms that resemble hormonal imbalance! Last May (2013) I was done with googling and decided to go see a ND. Which, if you've been struggling with any of these issues I'd suggest going to see one. You know, for me I was eating things like sugar, wheat, cow/goat milk, coffee, and aspartame; all of which my body didn't accept and would just "shut down". I've continued to keep these out of my diet 98% of the time. I no longer have acne and my weight is healthy.
I used to think that a piece of whole grain toast with almond butter and banana with a cup of coffee was all I needed for breakfast... I was wrong! At 28 yrs of age, weighing 118 lbs at 5'6 is VERY unhealthy. And I wondered why I couldn't get pregnant!? My Dr. said to me " there's a reason why you can't get pregnant. If you're body can't get the nutrients it needs it won't support another human being"... This was a wake up call!
Today, for breakfast ( or lunch depending on my day/mood) I eat according to the time of my "month" via seed cycling (http://www.dr-kristy.com/balancing-hormones-with-seed-clycling/). I mix the following seed mixes in my vitamix with 3 ice cubes, 1/2 banana, 1/2t cinnamon, 1 1/2C of unsweetened hemp/almond milk, a scoop of GMO-free/sugar-free plant-based protein powder and a tsp of maca root powder... All for a whopping 40 grams of protein! The goal is 90 grams per day!
Days 1-14:
2 tablespoon of each:
Pumpkin seeds
Hemp hearts
1 tablespoon of each:
Flax seeds (ground)

Days 15-28 ( until day 1)
1 tablespoon of each:
Sesame seeds
Sunflower seeds
Hemp hearts
Pumpkin seeds
Flax seeds
Chia seeds
Nutritional yeast
Cacao nibs
** soak in water pumpkin, sunflower and sesame seeds overnight or for at least 2hrs
